Case Against Nuclear Weapons

During the six decades since atomic bombs devastated Hiroshima and Nagasaki, an overwhelming case has developed against their further use. From our perspective nuclear weapons are immoral and are outmoded cold war holdovers that lack any legitimate military utility in the 21st century and continue the obsolete doctrine of nuclear deterrence.

Yet nuclear weapons persist. As we seek to rid the world of these dreadful instruments of mass destruction, we examine the arguments against them. We look at several categories:

In spite of moral and practical reasons for not using nuclear weapons, some persons believe that they could be used in certain situations.
